Two Weeks To Go

With the inspections behind us, we’re now two weeks away from moving out of what was our home for the past 12+ years.  My wonderful wife has been packing and taking care of pretty much everything, which has been interesting for the control freak in me.  I’m pretty blown away by how stressful this has all been, although knowing me, its more about me creating stress where there is no stress than anything else.  Anyway, here’s a shot of what will be the new house (assuming nothing goes awry at the closing).

How pimp is that backyard!  Sure, it will take 4x as long to mow the lawn, but I get some privacy and some space which is what I really wanted.

Yiddish Word of the Moment:

Goy/Goyim
Definition:  A gentile or non-Jew.

What on Earth was the Goyim doing hanging out in the Shul this morning?

Another One Bites the Dust

Well, I decided to check in on on of the companies I used to work for who recently filed for bankruptcy and it looks like they won’t be coming back.

kbtoysWhat was even more surprising was that the other associated URLs from that company (Brainplay.com and KBKids.com) just go to 404 error pages instead of redirecting as they used to.  At any rate, I’m not quite sure how I feel about this one.  I was one of the first employees there, back when it was called Thunderbeam, working in a small office with Srikant, Karlyn, Walt and Adam.  On the other hand, there were reasons why I left and there were reasons why this company ended up going belly up.

At any rate, I’ll bid Thunderbeam/Brainplay/KBKids/KBToys a fond farewell.

Yiddish Word of the Moment:

Schmutz
Definition:  Dirt or some other type of miscellaneous debris
Example:  Come over here, you’ve got some schmutz on your face.

My Wii Fit Pig is Silver

Isn’t it just a bit insulting that Wii Fit uses a giant pig to track how much time you’ve spent exercising.  Yeah, I know its supposed to be a “piggy bank”, but pig and exercise just don’t seem to go together in a positive way (and I’m all about the positive as you know).

Anyway, I hit 20 hours on the Wii Fit this morning, so as a reward, my piggy bank turned from Bronze (which you get at 10 hours) to Silver.  Apparently when I hit 40 hours it will go gold.  As to whether or not its working, who knows.  After 20 hours over 40 days I’m down about 15 pounds (still have a good 15-20 more to lose though).  The strength training and the yoga are actually pretty decent, but the arobics stuff seems to be increasingly lame.  Despite the fact that I have absolutely no rhythm at all, I’ve been able to earn the “calorie torcher” status for advanced step.  Unfortunately, advanced step doesn’t seem to be much more than walking, since the fit board doesn’t represent much of an actual step.

As for the weight loss, I’m thinking a large part of that can be attributed to the insane diet I’ve been on for the past month.  Man do I miss carbs and candy.

Yiddish Word of the Moment:

Schmuck
Definition:  A dork, a loser, a tool, a spazz (you get the idea)
Example:  Did you see that chubby schmuck get all excited when his Wii Pig turned from bronze to silver?  Yeesh!
